ApnaMate – Privacy Policy

Effective Date: 21 October 2026

ApnaMate (‘we’, ‘our’ or ‘us’) respects your privacy and is committed to handling your personal information responsibly.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and disclose information when you use the ApnaMate mobile application, website and related services.

1. About ApnaMate

ApnaMate is a digital platform designed to connect people in Australia for job opportunities, rooms and accommodation, buying and selling items and cars, and community interaction. This policy covers our mobile application, website and related services (the “Platform”).

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide, information generated when you use the Platform, and information received from sign-in providers or other users through messages, reviews and reports.

Personal Information

When you create an account or use our services, we may collect:

  • Name, display name and profile details
  • Email address and account identifiers
  • Phone number or business contact details, if you provide them
  • State, suburb, postcode and location information
  • Photos and other content you upload
  • Google or Apple sign-in identifiers and the profile information those providers supply

User Content

We collect content and activity associated with the Platform, including:

  • Jobs, Rooms, Marketplace and Cars advertisements
  • Messages, supported attachments, enquiries and reviews
  • Saved listings, room address requests and approvals
  • Reports, block records and support requests
  • Business and dealer details, including ABN and licence details where submitted

Location Information

Room listings include an exact address and coordinates. Public room pages show the general area; the exact address is restricted and released through the owner-approved request process. Address verification sends the entered address to OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim service. Some suburb or postcode searches also use this service.

Device and Technical Information

We and our providers may process:

  • Device or browser information and operating system
  • IP address and approximate location
  • App usage, page views and feature interactions
  • Session or device identifiers
  • Log information, security events, error diagnostics and crash reports

3. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

  • Provide and operate ApnaMate
  • Allow users to publish listings, search and communicate
  • Manage accounts and sign-in
  • Process room address requests
  • Improve Platform functionality, reliability and security
  • Communicate with users and answer support requests
  • Prevent fraud, scams, spam and illegal activities
  • Review reports, moderate content and enforce our policies
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations

4. Sharing of Information

We do not sell account details or private conversations to data brokers. Information may be shared in the situations below, including with advertising providers.

With Other Users

When you publish content, your public profile, listing details, photos, reviews and any contact details you include may be visible to others. Your phone number may be visible if you include it in public content. Public information can be copied, shared or indexed by search engines. Users are responsible for the information they choose to share.

Messages

Messages and enquiries are intended for their participants, rather than public display. They are stored on our backend and are not end-to-end encrypted. Recipients can keep or share copies. Authorised personnel may access relevant records where necessary for support, safety investigations or legal matters.

With Service Providers

We share information with providers that help operate, maintain and improve the Platform. These include Supabase for accounts and storage, ChatGPT Sites and Cloudflare for hosting and delivery, Google and Apple for sign-in, and OpenStreetMap for location lookup. OpenStreetMap may log address queries and request information under its own policy.

Advertising

The iOS app uses Google AdMob and Google’s consent tools. Depending on settings and your choices, Google may process IP addresses, approximate location, device identifiers, ad views and interactions, app interactions and diagnostic information for advertising, measurement and fraud prevention. Some processing can occur with non-personalised ads. We do not supply private message text or exact room addresses as ad-targeting fields. Use Manage ad privacy where available, and Google or device settings, to manage your choices.

With Authorities or Law Enforcement

We may provide relevant account details, posted content, activity logs and contact information when required or authorised by law, in response to lawful requests, or where necessary to protect safety or establish or defend a legal claim. This may involve police, courts or other authorised bodies in Australia or another relevant jurisdiction.

5. User Safety

ApnaMate connects users; it is not an emergency service or a substitute for police or legal assistance. If you experience fraud, scams, sexual harassment, threats or other illegal activity, report the issue to ApnaMate and contact local law enforcement where appropriate. In an emergency in Australia, call 000.

Take care when sharing personal information. Do not publish passwords, verification codes, identity documents, banking details or unnecessary sensitive information. Only share someone else’s information if you have authority to do so. Automated rules may screen content, apply usage limits and flag content for moderation. Contact support to request review of a moderation decision.

6. Data Storage and Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to help protect information, including HTTPS, authentication and access controls. However, no digital platform can guarantee complete security. Protect your account and report suspected unauthorised access promptly. We will provide security-incident notifications where required by law.

Cookies and similar storage maintain sign-in and service state. Session storage also supports product analytics and temporary sign-in or deletion steps. Analytics may be linked to an account or content identifier. You can restrict storage and manage available device permissions, but some features may stop working. Clearing storage does not delete information already held by us.

7. Data Retention and Account Deletion

We retain user information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide services, meet legal obligations, prevent fraud, resolve disputes and enforce our policies.

To delete your account, go to Profile, choose Delete account and complete the identity and confirmation steps. The process removes active posts and owned uploads, disables sign-in and de-identifies your public profile. Uninstalling the app alone does not delete your account.

ApnaMate and YallaSouq share accounts, profile records and backend infrastructure. Account and profile changes can affect both services, and account deletion affects both apps. Market-specific listings and conversations are scoped to their respective app.

Historical messages may remain for other participants with a deleted-member label. This does not erase personal information you typed in a message. Limited fraud, moderation, dispute or legal records may also be retained where needed. Provider logs, backups, search-engine caches and copies held by others may persist under their respective retention processes. Contact us about a specific retained record or if deletion fails.

8. Children’s Privacy

ApnaMate is not intended for users under 16. We do not knowingly seek personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has created an account or supplied information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action, including removing the account where appropriate. Users must also meet the eligibility requirements in our Terms of use.

9. Overseas Processing

ApnaMate serves Australia. Our current Supabase database is hosted in Sydney, but service providers may process information overseas, including in the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and other countries where they or their subprocessors operate. OpenStreetMap states that its non-tile personal data is stored in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, with backups in the European Union.

Provider policies below explain their processing practices. Contact us for further information about a particular disclosure. We will seek separate consent where required by applicable law.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updated policies will be published on this page with a revised effective date. We will provide additional notice of material changes where appropriate and obtain fresh permission where required. Updating a policy alone does not give consent to a new use that requires it.

11. Contact Us

For questions about this policy, access to your personal information, correction requests, deletion enquiries or privacy complaints, contact ApnaMate using the form below and select Privacy. You do not need to sign in. You can also request an accessible copy of this policy.

We may need proportionate proof of identity or authority before disclosing or changing information. Do not send passwords, verification codes or unnecessary identity documents. We will assess requests under applicable law and explain any refusal or limitation.

For privacy complaints, we aim to respond within 30 days and explain if more time is needed. If you are dissatisfied, you can ask for a review or contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), which can advise whether it has jurisdiction. The OAIC generally asks you to complain to the organisation first and allow a reasonable opportunity to respond.
